Archer Western-de Moya leads successful 5,000-cubic-yard concrete pour for Miami’s Signature Bridge
Miami, FL – The Archer Western-de Moya joint venture continues to progress on the Signature Bridge project in downtown Miami.
The weekend of July 23-25, 2021, the project team achieved a major milestone with the successful completion of a 33-hour footing pour for the Signature Bridge's center pier. The center pier will be the principle foundation for the bridge's towering arches. In total, the new bridge will feature six arches, with the tallest at 330 feet above ground.
This weekend’s concrete operation included a collection of impressive quantities, including:
- 5,000 cubic yards of 8,000 psi concrete
- 1,700,000 lbs rebar
- 7 chillers
- 6 miles of cooling pipes
- 5 batch plants
- 4 pump trucks
- 3 generators
- 3 frack tanks for chilled water
Archer Western-de Moya worked in partnership with Universal Engineering Sciences, Titan Concrete, Shelby Erectors, EFCO and U.S. American Concrete Pumping to achieve this significant milestone.
Along with the Signature Bridge, the SR 836/I-395 rebuild continues throughout all three project corridors. Once completed, 4.5 miles of SR 836/I-395 will be reconstructed and widened, with a double decked section created and the Signature Bridge adding to the Miami skyline.
