Walsh Construction celebrates expansion of Ascension Alexian Brothers Medical Center
Elk Grove Village, Illinois - Walsh Construction joined Ascension Health to unveil the 100,000-square-foot expansion of the Ascension Alexian Brothers Medical Center that will bring significantly improved patient care and treatment capacity to the hospital. The project delivers state-of-the-art healthcare services, particularly for neuroscience patients, by adding new private inpatient rooms equipped with the latest technology. The project also includes the extension of the hospital’s East Tower, with the construction of two additional floors that will house 36 advanced patient care rooms designed to provide an optimal healing environment.
In addition, the expansion incorporates 22,000 square feet dedicated to modern operating rooms and recovery spaces, specifically designed to facilitate cutting-edge surgical procedures. These new facilities will support a range of innovative treatments, including robotic surgeries and minimally invasive techniques, allowing the medical center to offer some of the most advanced care options available. This upgrade not only enhances the hospital’s capacity to treat more patients but also ensures a higher level of care, with specialized rooms and surgical capabilities that enable more precise and effective treatments.
This opening marks the final phase of a three-part, $107 million modernization and expansion project. Earlier phases, completed by Walsh in summer 2023, included the addition of four operating rooms for neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery, along with 25 postoperative recovery rooms.
