Dan Ryan Expressway Projects
The Dan Ryan expressway was first designed in 1963 with just over 150,000 vehicles travelling on the roadway. By the new millennium, it had surpassed its intended design life by more than 20 years. With traffic exceeding 300,000 vehicles daily, the Dan Ryan became unable to meet its demands. The contract included pavement and barrier wall replacement, reconstruction of local access roads, 15 flyover bridge replacements, sewers and drainage systems, signage, and landscaping. With over 300,000 cubic yards of concrete, this $975 million project has been recognized as one of the largest road construction projects in the nation. It was also a recipient of the Matthew Myles Walsh Founders award.
