New Inner Belt Bridge Gets a Girder That's Bigger Than BIG
CLEVELAND, OH -- The Flats south of downtown is known for its bare-knuckle industries and way of life. But the biggest knuckle anyone has ever seen showed up in the Cuyahoga River valley Tuesday.
A tractor-trailer towing a 50-ton piece of steel chugged to a construction site for the new Inner Belt Bridge just before noon.
The notched girder, known as a knuckle, will be the largest among hundreds of pieces of steel to go up over the next year, as the superstructure of the new I-90 span takes shape. [read more]
