Steve DelGrosso Discusses Archer Western's $90M Memorial Bridge Project
PORTSMOUTH — Steve DelGrosso, much to his chagrin, has been called half of the "dream team" responsible for the new Memorial Bridge. The other half is bridge designer Theodore "Ted" Zoli.
But it's a monicker the project manager from Archer Western Contractors could rightfully claim, with 29 years of experience building many bridges and tunnels throughout New England.
"I have to tell you, nothing has commanded the attention that this bridge has," he said of the Memorial Bridge, "even the 'Big Dig.' And that's a good thing. This bridge seems to be an epicenter for people."
DelGrosso is heading up a team of hundreds of workers from Archer Western and at least five major subcontractors, and he is responsible for ensuring the $90 million bridge is done on time and on budget.
The reference to the "Big Dig" in Boston is apt, as DelGrosso headed up work on two major tunnels completed as part of that project: the Ted Williams Tunnel to Logan International Airport, a $245 million job; and the tunnel between State and High streets, a $340 million job.
