The Academic Training Center (ATC), which will hold 12 F-35 simulators, will be more than 145,000 square feet in size and is expected to be ready for Simulator installation by August 2014, with pilot training to start early next year. In addition to the flight simulators, the $45M project includes academic training facility classrooms, a secure office planning area, high tech data center capabilities supporting simulator operations, a secure auditorium, infrastructure tie-ins, utility relocations and supporting facility parking lots and site work.
The ATC will comply with the Special Access Program Facility (SAPF) security specifications, DoD force protection requirements and meet and be certified LEED Silver under the USGBC 2009 LEED-NC Rating System.
