Scott Benjamin to Speak on Accelerated Bridge Construction at ENR Webinar
Walsh Construction's Scott Benjamin is a panelist on Engineering News-Record' s upcoming free webinar, "Learning the ABCs (Accelerated Bridge Construction) of Building with Data," on Thursday, October 13 at 2:00 P.M. EDT. He will share his experiences as deputy project manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Program.
Benjamin serves as the deputy project manager for Walsh/Granite JV, the firm leading construction for the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. The project is an $899 million public-private partnership with PennDOT, an initiative to replace 558 structurally deficient bridges throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Benjamin has worked in the construction industry for 15 years, including 10 years with Walsh Construction. He’s worked on major design-build projects totaling nearly $580 million, including the Cleveland Innerbelt CCG1 and Whittier Bridge Replacement. He’s also worked on over $220 million of PennDOT projects located in five different engineering districts.
Benjamin will be co-presenting the PennDOT Rapid Bridge Replacement Program story with Robert Allen, design project manager for HDR. The panel also includes Thomas Donald, P.E., director of bridge project management, Massachusetts DOT Highway Division and Ken Warbritton, maintenance liaison engineer, Missouri DOT.
Webinar attendees will learn how these states successfully bundle dozens to hundreds of bridges into rapid-replacement programs and the kinds of technology that helps them stay on top of the work and the project schedule.
