Walsh Construction completes Breast Health Center at Kishwaukee Hospital
Northwestern Medicine's Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL has opened a new $4.2 million Breast Health Center offering patients a more comprehensive breast health experience.
Built by Walsh Construction, the Breast Health Center is a 6,000-square-foot renovation of an existing office space that features state-of-the-art 3D mammography, breast ultrasound imaging, stereotactic biopsy and bone density rooms. The clinic includes a modern waiting area, private changing areas, staff area, conference room and radiologist reading rooms.
Before this project, DeKalb was over 10% behind the national average on breast health screening rates, but after the completion of this project, Northwestern Medicine screen rates will be higher, access to more breast health technology in a more comfortable and private atmosphere
“From screening mammograms, to having her needing additional views or a biopsy, the goal is to do that all here,” Aldis said. “It’s that really nice continuum of navigating that patient through, and hopefully these services increase our screening rates.”
