Construction Update: Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility Expansion (April 2021)

ROSWELL, GA - Archer Western Construction and joint venture partner Brown and Caldwell continue to make progress on upgrading and expanding the Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility from 24 to 32 million gallons per day.

The April 2021 project update from Fulton County showcases the recent activity on site:

Construction at the Big Creek project site is buzzing with activity. Significant progress has been made at the Dewatering Building with the completion of second floor slab. Installation of the in-slab conduit and the rough in of the in-slab plumbing in the Headworks Building is also underway. Biological Nutrient Reactors (BNR) slabs are being poured and construction continues at the MBR walls.











Concrete placement will remain a significant portion of work throughout the month. On-going concrete placement efforts include the MBR Gallery walls, BNR slabs, Primary Clarifier walls, and UV/Post-Air walls. At the Dewatering Building, the work to get the second floor erected has allowed the team to begin planning for pipeline and equipment installation.

About the Project
The Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility, owned by Fulton County, serves the largest service area and receives the largest amount of wastewater flow of all the reclamation facilities in the county’s northern service area, outside of Atlanta. The Progressive Design-Build project will upgrade and expand the facility from 24 to 32 million gallons per day to meet the projected wastewater treatment demands from future growth and eliminate odors from the facility. The project is expected to be Fulton County’s largest public works project in the next 50 years.
