The Walsh Group recaps a year of volunteer and community efforts across the Seattle region
The Walsh Group's Seattle regional office takes pride in their surrounding communities and serving in the areas in which we they work. In 2021, the office and its employees volunteered, donated and helped support the following community organizations: University District Food Bank in Seattle (donated over 3,000 warm clothing items), Food Lifeline (Food Frenzy, participated in Ankrom Moisan’s trivia night and volunteered at Food Lifeline’s warehouse after work), Habitat for Humanity (volunteers spent a Saturday framing walls for residential buildings), Cascade Regional Blood Services (two blood drives in 2021), Rebuilding Together South Sound (volunteers spent three different Saturdays repairing the homes of elderly / disabled homeowners), Childhaven (participated in DCI’s Annual event to raise money for Childhaven), King County Coalition of Homelessness (held a Book Drive for homeless kids in King County), NAIOP Community Enhancement Day (spent a day landscaping and improving the land around a local YMCA), Turkeys for Troops, Fisher House and Toys for Tots.
Additionally, every summer Food Lifeline puts on the Food Frenzy “End Western Washington Hunger” competition that involves more than 50 participating companies. This past year was Walsh’s fourth year participating. During the competition, we competed against companies in the A/E/C sector with the common goal to achieve the most points by either volunteering at Food Lifeline warehouse, raising money and/or collecting canned goods. After the two week competition, Walsh donated over $17,000, collected over 120 canned food items and volunteered 80 hours at the Food Lifeline Warehouse. We were 11th place in the overall competition and second in the A/E/C category. Overall, in 2021, our region logged over 400 volunteer hours. We look forward to giving back in 2022!
