Walsh Construction completes NASA Research Support Building
Cleveland, Ohio – Walsh Construction, one of the largest general contractors in the United States, has completed a new 60,000-square-foot Research Support Building at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland.
The multi-use Research Support Building is the second phase of NASA's Facility Master Plan to revitalize its central campus and renovate/replace World War II-era buildings.
The new building will promote group collaboration, community gathering, and innovation for approximately 160 employees, while offering state-of-the-art training and conference rooms, a cafeteria, “hoteling spaces” for employees on part-time telework, an exchange store and a credit union.
Walsh Construction, Andrea Steele Architecture and Bialosky + Partners Architects designed and constructed a facility that focuses on energy efficiency, sustainability, and green building best practices. The Research Support Building recently achieved LEED Gold BD+C certification, exceeding the project’s original goal of LEED Silver.
