Walsh Construction completes Loyola Medicine Ambulatory Care Center
Tinley Park, Illinois - Walsh Construction has completed Loyola Medicine's new 70,000-square-foot Ambulatory Care Center, an outpatient facility that features a comprehensive cancer care center, urgent care center, imaging services, retail pharmacy, 50 exam rooms, eight procedure rooms, and an X-ray suite and laboratory.
Serving over 15,000 patients, the $69 million facility includes oncology, cardiology, digestive health, endocrinology, gynecology, hepatology, neurology, orthopedics, otolaryngology and audiology, pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, primary care, pulmonology, radiology and sports medicine.
Major modalities within the Ambulatory Care Center include CT, MRI, X-Ray, Mammogram and a Linear Accelerator, as well as a shell room for an additional future Linear Accelerator. The Linear Accelerator performs radiation treatment with a high level of accuracy and is used to treat cancerous tumors while preserving the surrounding tissue.
Walsh commenced construction in early April 2022 and utilized LEAN principles and practices with project designer HOK to accommodate and successfully deliver an aggressive schedule. The project team incorporated pull-planning, target design, design assist, pre-fabricated delivery options and assistance with material/equipment selections, monetized assembly and innovative construction means and methods that foster expedited implementation.
