Built by Archer Western and designed by Plummer Associates, the project enhances the city’s ability to transfer and treat raw water from Lake Texoma to meet increasing regional demand. The new pump station replaces aging infrastructure and expands capacity, positioning the system to serve residents and businesses for decades to come.
The Lake Texoma Raw Water Pump Station project included construction of a new intake pump station equipped with vertical turbine pumps located directly in Lake Texoma, along with an extensive network of transmission and support infrastructure. Major elements of the project include:
- 6,750 linear feet of 42-inch raw water pipeline
- 1,700 linear feet of 8-inch water pipeline
- 7,600 linear feet of 24-inch water pipeline
- A 200-foot-long aerial pipeline crossing over the Randell Lake dam spillway
- Site development and environmental mitigation measures
- Installation of SCADA improvements to enhance system monitoring and operational control

Construction on the Lake Texoma Raw Water Pump Station began in January 2023 and reached completion in March 2026, following more than three years of coordinated construction activity, environmental stewardship, and technical execution. Archer Western served as the prime contractor, delivering the project in alignment with the City of Denison’s Capital Improvements Program objectives.
The City of Denison has identified water infrastructure as a cornerstone of its long-range planning efforts. City officials note that the new pump station significantly increases raw water capacity compared to the previous facility, with the ability to expand further as future demand requires. By modernizing intake, pumping, and monitoring systems, the project improves operational efficiency while reinforcing Denison’s ability to provide reliable treated water to residents, businesses, and future development.
