This data center expansion delivered 140,000-square-foot expansion of an existing data center, bringing its overall whitespace capacity to 50,000 square feet. Building mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems were designed to be redundant and expandable to meet future growth, including dual primary power feeds, three 3.2-MW standby generators, underground fuel storage with redundant delivery systems and a UPS battery backup. Cooling systems are chilled water-based with first-phase scope including three 800-ton chiller lineups and innovative heat recovery chiller systems. A building automation system was designed with an open-protocol distribution control and integration system utilizing a dedicated local network system. The project achieved LEED NC Gold certification, as well as an Uptime Institute Tier II rating for a Concurrently Maintainable Site Infrastructure.
