This project features twin 2,350-foot, cast-in-place concrete segmental bridges carrying The Pennsylvania Turnpike over the Allegheny River, Allegheny Valley Railroad, Norfolk Southern Railroad, and Freeport Road. These structures were constructed utilizing the balanced cantilever method and are the first of their kind in Pennsylvania. The six-span structures have piers ranging in height from 57 feet to 102 feet which include aesthetic rockwork features inspired by the local landscape, over 8,000,000 pounds of reinforcing steel, 1300 linear feet of drilled shafts, nearly 50,000 cubic yards of concrete, and over 3,000,000 pounds of post-tensioning.
