Archer Western Construction constructed The Gilbert Road Bridge over the Salt River, connecting Mesa to State Route 87 (Beeline Highway). The new bridge replaces a previous two-lane bridge and low-water crossing. The connection features two lanes in each direction, a new traffic signal at the Thomas Road intersection, and new roads connecting the bridge to SR 87 and the City of Mesa. The project included the installation of a new storm drain and a 36-inch waterline as part of the Salt River Project's water delivery system.
