Bridges

US-281 CIP Segmental Bridge

Location
Marble Falls, Texas
Owner
Texas Department of Transportation
Architect
Finley Engineering Group
Contract Value
$30,000,000

The project replaced the functionally obsolete Colorado River Bridge on US Highway 281. The project featured a three-span variable-depth cast-in-place (CIP) segmental structure, 96-inch drill shafts and more than 13,000 cubic yards of CIP concrete. The Marble Falls bridge is the second-longest main span in a segmental bridge in Texas, and the only segmental bridge without approach spans.

48
Forty-eight bridge segments have a unique tapered boat hull design in the bottom slab, an aesthetic treatment to match the community’s focus on recreational boat racing.
