Archer Western Gives Back
This year, Archer Western’s Raleigh-Durham Roadbuilders hosted a donation site for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. The mission of the program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children and give a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. Local businesses like Archer Western play key roles. They allow Coordinators to locate drop-off/collection boxes in their stores; provide free warehouse space for storing and sorting toys; provide vehicles to collect toys from drop-off sites; sponsor toy raising events; and help Coordinators arrange media exposure for Toys for Tots in the local community.
Our jobsite attached fliers, posted them throughout the project office, and distributed them at the field trailer. Our Senior Superintendent even dressed up as Santa Claus to provide comic relief and enhance the spirit of giving.
In a very short time, and despite 22 degree weather, we were able to fill an entire loader bucket with new and unopened toys! Raleigh Durham Roadbuilders made an additional monetary gift of $750 to the Marine Toys for Tots Administration of Triangle, Virginia. The toy drive was truly a success!
While Toys for Tots Coordinators organize, coordinate and manage the campaign, the ultimate success depends on the support of the local community and the generosity of the people who donate toys.
The Walsh Group’s mission statement includes the goal of achieving a high level of citizenship, and this effort is testament to this mission. We are proud to have played a part in this tremendous effort.
