Walsh Construction Company Canada
Walsh Construction Company Canada recently broke ground on the Women’s College Hospital (WCH) project, the first and only Ambulatory Care Hospital in Ontario and the only hospital in Ontario with a primary focus on Women’s Health. Services at WCH range from diagnostic investigations or therapeutic treatments to outpatient surgeries.
Under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract model, Walsh Construction / Bondfield Partnership is the Construction Contractor performing design-build services. This project will involve the construction of a new LEED certified facility on the hospital’s current Grenville Street site in downtown Toronto. The new WCH will replace the existing facility and consolidate most hospital services in one location, enhancing the hospital’s stature as a provincial leader in women’s health care, research, and education. The 629,000 square foot facility will also include three levels of below-grade parking. Phase 1 is scheduled for completion in spring of 2013, and the entire project is scheduled for completion in spring of 2016.
Walsh Canada was also recently awarded a $165M subway station in Toronto. The Toronto Transit Commission's Steeles West Project is a new cut and cover subway station part of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension Project (TYSSE). The project covers include earth retention, excavation, and cast in place concrete station box and crossover. The skin of the above ground entrances includes steel weathering panels and aluminum curtainwall. Tiling and terrazzo will be the primary finishes.
Along with the groundbreaking in Canada, Walsh’s new projects in Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico continue to develop The Walsh Group’s presence beyond the continental United States.
