Archer Western Projects Recognized
Two Archer Western Contractors, Ltd. projects were recognized in Texas Construction Magazine’s Best of 2010 awards program. The annual competition highlights commercial construction and design excellence from across Texas and Oklahoma.
DART Northwest Rail Operating Facility, which includes a new maintenance facility for DART light rail vehicles, a train wash building and a large platform designed to allow for cleaning and maintenance of the rail car interior, was awarded Best Transportation project.
Excellence in Transportation was awarded to the San Antonio Airport project. San Antonio Airport consists of the extension of the existing upper level bridge structure that will provide access to travelers departing from future Terminals B & C and the widening and reconstruction of the lower level roadway which serves as access for picking up travelers arriving at the terminals.
The award program recognized excellence in the projects for overcoming challenges & teamwork; safety; innovation & contribution to the industry/community; construction quality and craftsmanship; and function and aesthetic quality of design.
With corporate headquarters in Chicago, Archer Western has a regional office in Arlington, Texas, that focuses on infrastructure improvements including multi-level highway interchanges, bridges, light rail transit, levees, airports civil work, lift stations, pump stations and water treatment plants. The Arlington regional office constructs projects from Lubbock, to Lawton, Okla., to New Orleans. In 2009, Archer Western completed more than $431 million worth of construction work in the Texas regional area.
