Don Gillis Named New President of Heavy Civil
The Walsh Group promotes Don Gillis to President of the Heavy Civil Group.
Mr. Gillis, formerly a Vice President and Senior Business Group Leader, stepped into his new role at the beginning of 2012. He started his career at Walsh Group subsidiary Archer Western Contractors, Ltd. 24 years ago, opening the second Archer Western office in Atlanta. Don was instrumental in growing Archer Western’s Southeastern business into a multi-billion dollar operation with major construction projects spanning the entire eastern seaboard.
As President of the Heavy Civil Group, Don will be responsible for overseeing the operations of The Walsh Group’s National Heavy/Civil Division, including monitoring start up and staffing, establishment of management systems, supervising project progress, and participating in owner consultations. He will oversee a variety of large scale highway, transportation and treatment plant facility projects in addition to other civil work.
Mr. Gillis has over 40 years in the construction industry and holds a B.S. in Commerce and Engineering from Drexel University.
