The Walsh Group Participates in Rebuilding Together
The Regional Office sponsored the home through Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh, who delivers no-cost home repairs and renovations to low-income seniors in the Pittsburgh Area. House Captain, Michael Norcutt, and Volunteer Captain, Jessica McDuffie, organized a crew of roughly 30 Walsh employees and vendors to assist on the day's work. Several weeks of planning had taken place prior to this day.
The scope of work had to be written by the Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh council and procurement of materials, tools, and donated items from many other suppliers had to be organized. Breakfast was provided by Corporate Accommodations of Pittsburgh.
The group started by moving all of the furniture and providing a fresh coat of paint to the entire first floor of the home. All of the kitchen cabinets were also painted and the existing hardware got a facelift. The front yard received a major transformation that included edging, topsoil, flowers, shrubs, and solar lights, as well as painting the existing flagpole. Some of the exterior trim was replaced and painted, and a new hand rail was installed on the back patio. The bathroom and kitchen received brand new flooring and cove base. W.G. Tomko donated the material and labor to install a new ADA compliant toilet fixture and new grab bars & caulking were also installed. The whole crew worked extremely hard to get everything on the scope sheet completed in just seven hours flat!
The home owner was extremely grateful to have the group there and was very pleased with what the crew accomplished. The Pittsburgh Regional Office will continue to sponsor homes on an annual basis through Rebuilding Together.
The Walsh Group is proud of all employees across the country that participate in National Rebuilding Day. It is truly a day full of generosity, heart, and hard work, giving to those that are unable to improve their homes.
