AMLI Lofts Wins Two Chicago Development Awards
AMLI Lofts was named the 2015 Multi-family Development of the Year by the Chicago Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, and was recognized as the Residential Construction Project of the Year by the Construction Industry Service Corporation (CISCO).
Located at the corner of Clark and Polk streets in Chicago's historic and vibrant South Loop, AMLI Lofts is an 11-story, two-tower, sustainable, upscale apartment community comprised of 398 apartment homes. AMLI Lofts offers convertibles and one- and two-bedroom floor plans with soft loft contemporary interiors featuring 10-foot exposed concrete ceilings with spiral ductwork, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, full-size washers and dryers, wood flooring, SilverIP Gigabit Internet, and gorgeous city views. AMLI Lofts boasts extraordinary amenities that include an expansive fitness center with yoga studio; resident lounge with fireplace, coffee bar and game area; tech lounge; and over 25,000 square feet of outdoor landscaped spaces, which include a heated pool, grilling area, sport court, fire pit and dog park. The building exterior has a contemporary look, and the interiors draw inspiration from living spaces carved from old vacant factories. The community is pet-friendly, smoke-free and designed for LEED Silver designation.
“We are thrilled and very proud to be recognized for excellence by our peers,” commented Stephen Ross, Executive Vice President of Development for AMLI. “One of the more gratifying aspects of this award-winning development is the connection we kept with AMLI Loft’s historic location by utilizing 125+-year-old granite pavers found on the original building site from old LaSalle Street and repurposing them throughout our courtyard areas. It gives this brand new, state-of-the-art apartment building a unique sense of history.”
The recent honors were awarded based upon design, quality of construction, safety record, and impact on the surrounding community.
NORR designed the residential development to exceed U.S. Green Building Council standards and achieve LEED Silver certification. The project created approximately 750 jobs throughout the course of construction and averaged 175 workers per day for 18 months, according to Walsh Construction Company, the project’s general contractor.
“We’re proud to partner on another exceptional property with AMLI. These developments deliver highly sustainable living environments that directly generate economic growth in our local communities,” said Eric Larsen, Building Group Leader for Walsh Construction.
Ranked as the nation’s 14th largest multi-unit residential builder according to Engineering-News Record, Walsh Construction has partnered with AMLI Residential on apartment communities across northern Illinois, including AMLI River North, AMLI 900, AMLI Deerfield, AMLI Evanston, AMLI at Museum Gardens, and AMLI at Seven Bridges.
