NASA Selects Walsh Construction to Build New Research Support Building
NASA has selected Walsh Construction to build a new Research Support Building at the agency’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland.
This firm-fixed-price contract includes a base period that begins Aug. 10, followed by seven options that would extend the period of performance to June 9, 2020. The total potential value of this contract is approximately $32.7 million.
The two-story, 64,000-square-foot building will house approximately 164 employees and include open office areas, private offices, conference rooms, collaborative engineering rooms, and a cafeteria with supporting kitchen and dining spaces.
Work under the contract includes removal of existing paved surfaces and underground utilities; site preparation; caissons for foundation support; the construction of curbs, roadways, parking areas and pedestrian walkways; and landscaping. The contract also includes supporting utilities to the building, such as the extension of potable water, high-pressure steam, natural gas, sanitary and storm sewers, high voltage electrical cable, communications cabling and new communications duct banks and manholes.
