LaGuardia Progress: Final pieces of steel placed for new roadways and atop Concourse A North
New York, New York - The steel and foundations teams building the new Terminal B at LaGuardia Airport have topped off the steel for the future Concourse A North. In total, over 1,600 pieces weighing 930 tons were installed in just six weeks.
In addition to the northern leg of Concourse A, the steel and roadways teams completed all steel installation for the new roadways that lead to and from the future LaGuardia Terminal B. This construction effort included 14,000 tons of steel comprised of 1,064 girders (up to 98 feet long), 14 box beams, 11 integral cap beams and used 13 cranes to perform the installations.
Walsh Construction is part of the design-build joint venture that is redeveloping LaGuardia Airport's Terminal B.
