Walsh Construction completes AMITA Health's new Outpatient Pavilion at Adventist Medical Center La Grange
LA GRANGE, IL – AMITA Health has unveiled its new centralized Outpatient Pavilion at Adventist Medical Center La Grange. A ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by AMITA Health executives, hospital employees and project stakeholders marked the opening of the facility addition that will service residents of Chicago’s southwest suburbs. The Outpatient Pavilion is composed of a 26,00-square-foot building addition, along with 25,000 square feet of renovations within the existing hospital.
Built by Walsh Construction and designed by Anderson Mikos Architects, the new addition includes six orthopedic operating rooms, a sterile processing department, a cardiac department and associated service areas. The added surgical spaces, some measuring as large as 750 square feet, allow for new monitors, lights and robotic surgery equipment to aid in more advanced procedures.
“We worked with the doctors, staff, and clinicians to create this new facility, giving them ownership of the space,” said Michael Murrill, CEO of Adventist Medical Center La Grange. “They meticulously thought about what every nook and cranny of the space could be used for, from the point of view of providers, and considered how our patients would interact with the space to give patients the best experience. The excitement of this ribbon cutting is palpable, and I think it will just spill over into what happens between these walls.”
The $21 million project began in July 2018, and as a result of its completion, southwest suburban Chicago patients can have their pre-operative, inpatient and post-operative experiences all in one place.
