Archer Western completes upgrades to Cartersville Water Pollution Control Plant
Cartersville, GA - Archer Western Construction joined the City of Cartersville and Hazen & Sawyer to celebrate the completed upgrade of the city's Water Pollution Control Plant that meets new discharge permit limits and delivers critical plant upgrades to improve reliability and redundancy. The $37 million project included:
- Installation of new gravity drain piping, new storm water collection piping, and new process yard piping.
- Construction of a new alum storage and distribution system.
- Construction of a new solids storage facility and screw conveyor system.
- Construction of a new 135-ft diameter center feed clarifier equipped with a scum removal system and RAS metering station.
- Rehabilitation of two existing 135-ft diameter clarifiers.
- Upgrades to existing belt filter presses, pumps, and conveying equipment.
- Construction of a new blower facility with four new blowers, a new electrical room, and a new control system.
- Construction of new tertiary filters, including disk filters, vertical turbine mixers, and backwash pumps.
- Replacement of three 5-MGD influent station screw pumps with 15-MGD pumps.
