The Walsh Group's Tony Ames Named 2021 President of The Beavers Organization
PHOENIX, AZ - Tony Ames, The Walsh Group's Vice President of Heavy Civil Transportation for the Southwest Region, has been named the 2021 President of the Beavers organization. The Beavers is a social, honorary organization formed, organized and managed by the construction companies and individuals who are or have engaged in heavy engineering construction.
The purpose of the Beavers is to promote goodwill, friendliness and consideration within the heavy engineering construction industry; to give recognition to those men and women who have demonstrated particular skill, responsibility and integrity; and to encourage and support entry of promising young individuals into heavy engineering construction.
Tony Ames, 2021 President of the Beavers, was born into a Minnesota construction family. His grandfather, Richard Ames (2019 Management Awardee), started Ames Construction in the early 1960s as a one-man operation with a used bulldozer. Tony's father Larry (Richard's son) was the first employee of Ames Construction, moving his family, including Tony, to North Dakota as the company expanded and eventually to Denver to build the Denver International Airport.
Tony worked as a laborer and equipment operator for Ames Construction during his junior high and high school years and continued as an operator on weekends and college summers during his freshman year at the University of Colorado. After graduating, he joined the company as a project engineer, and over the next ten years Tony progressed to project manager and regional construction manager before being named a regional vice president for the Rocky Mountain Region. In 2013, Tony was named chief operating officer of Ames Construction.
In January of 2019 he joined The Walsh Group as Vice President of Heavy Civil Transportation with responsibility for their Southwest Region which includes Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and southern Nevada.
