Walsh Canada begins construction of the Niagara Region Gilmore Lodge LTC Home Redevelopment
TORONTO, ONT. - Walsh Canada is working with the Niagara Region to construct the Gilmore Lodge redevelopment project, a 160-bed Long Term Care (LTC) Home and Seniors Wellness Centre (SWC) on a greyfield site in Fort Erie, Ontario.
Designed by MMMC Architects, the building will be a modern, state-of-the art three-story structure encompassing more than 156,000 square feet and will include all Resident Home Area (RHA) spaces, community spaces and facility service spaces.
Walsh Canada began construction in October 2021 and performed the project's first concrete pour in early December. Walsh continued their company's 60-year-old tradition of placing Miraculous Medals in the projects first concrete pour, a symbolic gesture meant to inspire the project team to work safely and make the project as miraculous as the medal itself.
One RHA will provide quality care to individuals recovering from a hospital visit before returning home. Gilmore Lodge's SWC will feature an Adult Day Program community room, exercise room, physiotherapy clinic, courtyard, program kitchen and dining. The project is anticipated to be complete in late 2023.
Walsh Canada is part of The Walsh Group, a fourth generation family-owned company providing construction services across the building, transportation and water/wastewater markets.
