Walsh Construction tops out KC-46A hangar at Travis Air Force Base
Travis AFB, CA - Walsh Construction along with W & W Steel Erectors, celebrated a construction milestone at Travis Air Force Base, placing the final piece of steel atop the new KC-46A three-bay maintenance hangar. With the placement of the structure's final component, enclosure can begin.

The 176,000-square-foot facility will include 123,000 square feet of hangar space and 53,000 square feet of support areas. The $124.5 million hangar will service Travis AFB’s future KC-46A tanker jet inventory. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2023.

The aircraft maintenance facility will be built with adjoining hydraulic, electro-environmental and general maintenance shops and administrative or support areas. The hangar will also have utilities, communications equipment, pavements and environmental remediation, fire detection, fall protection and foam systems.
