Archer Western completes Lift Station 87 Wet Weather Flow Transfer Project
St. Petersburg, FL - Archer Western joined the City of St. Petersburg, Mayor Ken Welch and local residents to celebrate the completion of the Lift Station 87 Wet Weather Flow Transfer Project, a project that involved designing, permitting and building a new lift station in the city's Childs Park area. The project also incorporated a new underground 16-inch diameter pipeline to connect the new lift station to the existing Pasadena Master Pump Station.
The new lift station and pipeline will help balance wet weather flow between the city's Northwest Water Reclamation Facility and the Southwest Water Reclamation Facility and improve wastewater service reliability. If a heavy rain event were to occur, the new wastewater lift station is able to send wastewater flows to those water reclamation facilities as intended. This project is required by Florida Department of Environment Protection Consent Order No. 16-1280 to address wet weather overflows from the St. Petersburg's wastewater system.
Along portions of the project, Archer Western installed the new pipeline utilizing a horizontal directional drill technique, a trenchless construction method that requires less construction space and minimizes surface disruption.

The lift station is housed in a 12-foot-tall acoustical enclosure. The exterior features a mural reflective of the community - created by local artist Jabari Reed-Diop (iBOMS), in partnership with the City, the St. Pete Art’s Alliance and the Childs Park Neighborhood association. Residents also assisted the project team with the design and assembly of the surrounding landscaping.
