Walsh Construction breaks ground on New Patient Tower at Memorial Hospital of South Bend
South Bend, IN - Walsh Construction, one of the largest healthcare builders in the United States, joined Beacon Health System, owner and operator of Memorial Hospital of South Bend, for a groundbreaking ceremony to begin construction on a new 10-story patient bed tower.
The $232 million project is the largest construction project in Memorial Hospital’s 129-year history and will expand the number of adult acute care beds from 249 to 302. Included in the new tower will be an expanded Intensive Care Unit, new and enhanced technologies across the facility and larger patient rooms with comfortable, dedicated space for family and visitors.

Walsh Construction has been working inside Memorial Hospital for nearly a year, working on a collection of projects to prepare for construction of the new patient bed tower, including renovations on the sixth floor, Energy Center updates and a new inpatient pharmacy.
