Archer Western completes Phase 2 Expansion of Fowler Water Reclamation Facility
Cumming, Georgia – Archer Western Construction celebrated the completion of Phase 2 expansion upgrades at the Fowler Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) in southwest Forsyth County. Archer Western joined County officials, including District 3 Commissioner Todd Levent, County Manager David McKee, Director of Water & Sewer Scott Adams, and representatives from ESG Engineering and Inframark for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
The expansion project, delivered by Archer Western and ESG Engineering, increases the wastewater treatment capacity of the facility from 5 million gallons per day (mgd) to 7.5 mgd, providing a critical boost to the county’s infrastructure. Key improvements to the facility include:
- Upgrade of the influent pump station to enhance system reliability and accommodate the rising wastewater flows tied to the growth of the wastewater collection system in the Big Creek and Settingdown Creek basins.
- Addition of two membrane bioreactor (MBR) tanks to expand the facility's treatment capacity, allowing for increased treated waterflows to the Chattahoochee River.
- Construction of a new chemical facility to handle the increased chemical demands resulting from the expanded treatment capacity.
- Upgrades to existing systems and equipment to replace aging components and improve overall reliability.
“These upgrades enable the facility to continue meeting the county’s growing needs and delivering high-quality effluent reliably and efficiently,” noted Water & Sewer Director Scott Adams. “We are proud that this nearly two-year construction project was completed on time and within budget.”
