Walsh-Fluor Design-Build Team named Contractor of the Year by Chicago Transit Authority
The Walsh-Fluor Design-Build Team has been named Contractor of the Year by Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) for their work on the Red Purple Modernization (RPM) Phase One Project. The award recognizes Walsh-Fluor's exceptional performance of the new Lawernce, Argyle, Berwyn and Bryn Mawr Red Line stations, a major milestone in the $2.1 billion RPM Phase One Project.
Built by Walsh-Fluor Design-Build Team, the RPM Phase One Project provides four new, fully accessible stations that opened in July, the completion of Track Structure Replacement of 1.9 miles of elevated track structure and a new signal system across 23 track miles. The project enhances customer experience, ensuring a smoother, faster and quieter ride for riders, improved train spacing and reliability, and sightlines for pedestrians and motorists.
The CTA’s RPM Program will ultimately rebuild a 9.6-mile stretch of Red and Purple Line infrastructure on Chicago’s North Side, improving capacity and comfort for millions of riders. The Red Line is CTA’s busiest, carrying nearly 40 million rides in 2024.
