This continuous walkway along the Chicago River connects the lakefront to the heart of downtown Chicago, turning a once uninviting industrial waterfront into an enticing public space. The Chicago Riverwalk is divided into six water-level “areas” and includes restaurants, public seating, recreational boat docking, bike rentals and other activities, with Marina Plaza, the Cove and the River Theater areas already completed. Walsh recently completed the final phase of the Chicago Riverwalk – The Water Plaza, The Jetty, and The Boardwalk. Highlights of these areas include a zero-depth fountain for children to play; floating wetlands and water gardens for ecologic observation; and a landscaped green space allowing visitors to relax and enjoy the views of the confluence of the three branches of the Chicago River.
