This bid-build-finance project consisted of 35 bridge structures connecting I-4 to the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway utilizing precast segmental construction and precast bulb tee beams for bridge decks founded on drilled shafts. The majority of the work was performed in one phase with tie-ins to I-4 and the expressway in four minor phases.
The new roadway provides exclusive truck lanes for direct access to the Port of Tampa and removes heavy truck traffic from local roads in Ybor City, one of only two national historic districts in Florida.
