Walsh Begins Work on New Park in Downtown Chicago
The 20-acre park, which encompasses the Daley Bicentennial Plaza, Cancer Survivors Garden and Peanut Park, sits over the underground parking garage at North Grant Park bordered by Randolph Street and Lake Shore, Columbus and Monroe drives.
The first phase included repairing the roof of the garage and replacing the waterproofing system.
The work Walsh is completing includes site preparation, concrete foundations, fencing, irrigation, soil installation, and landscaping. In addition, we are building the children's play garden, rock-climbing walls and the ice-skating ribbon.
Construction of the site is expected to be completed by October 2014 with planting done a month later. Peanut Park and spring planting is anticipated to be completed by May 2015.
