The Walsh Group welcomes Tony Ames as Vice President of Southwest Transportation
PHOENIX – The Walsh Group welcomes Tony Ames to its professional staff as Vice President and Business Group Leader for the company's southwest transportation operations.
Ames will be based out of the company's Phoenix, Ariz. office, and he will be responsible for oversight and leadership of projects in the southwest transportation market. His responsibilities will also include consultation with owners, monitoring project progress, supervision and review of management systems and staff.
"Tony has an impressive career with more than 28 years of heavy civil leadership," said David Casey, president of The Walsh Group’s heavy civil division. "Along with leading southwest transportation, Tony brings extensive earthwork and major project experience; he will also be an added adviser on our projects in other regions."
In his previous role as Chief Operating Officer at Ames Construction, Ames was responsible for the day-to-day operations for one of North America's largest heavy civil contractors. He oversaw complex projects that included highways, bridges, mass transit and railroads. A sample of projects includes the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway in Phoenix, Ariz.; the RCTC I-15 Express Lanes Design-Build Project near Corona, Calif.; the Union Pacific Railroad Santa Teresa Intermodal and Fueling facility in Southeast New Mexico; and the RTD Eagle P3 Electrified Commuter Rail Project in Denver, Colo. He also brings a career of experience in mining, energy and water/wastewater.
Ames is a Professional Engineer and attended the University of Colorado where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. He also is serving as Vice President of the Beavers Association, a social, honorary organization formed, organized and managed by heavy engineering construction individuals and companies.
