Louisville VA selects Walsh-Turner joint venture to build new $840 million medical center
Louisville, KY - The joint venture of Walsh Construction and Turner Construction, named Walsh-Turner JV II (Walsh-Turner), has been awarded a $840 million construction contract to build a new medical center that will replace the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville.
The scope of the historical project will include a 970,000-square-foot medical center, two parking structures, a regional laundry facility, a 40,000-square-foot central utility plant as well as new sidewalks and roadways.
Walsh-Turner has established a goal of awarding approximately $95,000,000 worth of contracts to small businesses. Throughout the project, Walsh-Turner will focus efforts on maximizing small business participation while ensuring a significant amount of that business is awarded to local Louisville and regional firms.
Walsh-Turner will work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District and the Department of Veterans Affairs on the project. The project is expected to break ground in Fall 2021, and construction is anticipated to be complete in late 2025.
