Walsh Construction and CH2M are performing rehabilitation and repairs to the I-480 Valley View bridge. Originally opened in 1977, approximately 170,000 vehicles utilize the bridge daily, making it one of the state’s busiest structures, yet the bridge is need of repairs and the existing concrete decks must be replaced. The Walsh Design-Build Team will design and construct a new center structure to migrate vehicles to when repairs are made on the existing bridges. Rather than close half of the bridge during construction, this concept allows bridge re-decking to be performed in phases and eliminates traffic congestion and delay. When complete, the new center structure will provide two additional permanent lanes of traffic in each direction, improve access and mobility, and minimize future maintenance costs.
